In 2018, the Narcotics Division of Security Bureau had launched the "Cross-boundary movement of physical currency and bearer negotiable instruments (CBNIs) ordinance" to prevent terrorists and other criminals from financing their activities or laundering their crime proceeds through moving CBNIs across boundaries.

An API is therefore produced to promote to the general public and travellers the commencement date and salient features of the ordinance.
